Since many of you have asked, join Natasya for special workshop in Russian Gypsy (ciganskie) Balkan, Turkish Roman, and Greek folkdance steps adapted for stage & bellydance. Folkdance is the original "Tribal" dance and fuses nicely with bellydance in Balkan Gypsy music.
Learn folkloric steps & combinations which fit seamlessly into folklore-infused solos or partner/group Tribal style bellydance.
Combinations include: steps for 2/4, 4/4, or 8/8 Balkan music, steps for 9/8 Turkish Roman Havasi (gypsy), Greek karsilima 9/8 partner combinations, and folklore-fused ATS/ITS combinations.
Class Level:
For dancers with basic dance skills or advanced dancers wishing to widen their repertoire
What to wear/bring:
bare feet or dance shoes only. No heels or street shoes.
Bring a bandana or kerchief to twirl
Instructor:
Natasya Katsikaris is a 2nd generation Greek-American who has been folkdancing since age 6.
Class Location:
Sacred Space is Ojai’s premiere dance & yoga studio. Spacious and inviting, with wood floors, full mirrors, and raised stage for good visibility. Ample free parking.
